After careful consideration I chose to purchase the Xbox 360 S 4GB console over the 250GB offering. I found that by ultimately purchasing the console and the Xbox 360 250GB HardDrive – Xbox Slim Only separately, I could save myself a few bucks. Though I would be missing out on the headset that the Xbox 360 250GB Console comes with, I still had one left over from my previous Xbox 360 Arcade Game Console. Furthermore, I had found that the Xbox 360 250GB console was coated in a glossy black finish, whereas the matte black of the 4GB console would be a better match for hardware that I already own, while saving me time when it comes to wiping away fingerprints.

For Xbox 360 owners looking to upgrade…

Now, I want to make clear that I was already an existing Xbox 360 owner, and with that prior ownership came the confidence in knowing exactly what I needed and how to go about transferring all of my game content and their licenses from a previous generation 20GB HDD to the new 250GB model. For those in a similar situation as I was, I recommend visiting the Xbox Live website so you can follow the complete instructions. I will say that instead of having to purchase the data migration kit that Microsoft offers, one could just as easily use an external HDD as a solid solution too. With this approach, you are able to transfer everything from your old xbox to the external storage, freeing up the old console to be traded in for value to put towards the new one. Once the new console is with you, plug in that same external hard drive and follow the steps from the Xbox website to complete the transfer of existing game content.

For customers new to the Xbox 360…
The Xbox 360 can be more than just a video game system, but only if you want it to be. That is the main attraction of this particular console. If you just want to try it out, or maybe have no other interest in using it for anything but a game-disc and netflix player then excellent, your shopping is done. However, if you do get the itch to try out Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures!, or some xbox live downloadable games and add-ons, know that the 250GB HDD can be added on whenever you want. Often times, as I mentioned in my opening paragraph, you can find both of those particular items at great prices which when added together would be less money than just getting theXbox 4gb Console with Kinect. The way I see it is why spend your money on all of it at once when you can just grab the base model first, and take your time deciding what direction you want to explore next?

Ultimately the choice is up to you. Just remember whether it comes to playing games, watching DVDs, streaming Hulu, Netflix, ESPN, Last.fm radio, or media from the built-in Zune Marketplace one can do it with this system. Furthermore, the 4GB of built in storage is enough to give you a taste of what Xbox Live demos, downloads, and add-ons are all about.

The wireless N configuration will work nicely with your existing router and the Facebook and Twitter apps remind you that there is more to come from Xbox 360 with new Dashboard update expected to drop sometime in late 2011.
